Getting Organized

In the aftermath of the 2016 Election, we have seen a resurgence of interest in political participation throughout the entire country like nothing in recent memory – including right here in the Merrimack Valley. In order to help channel and organize this energy into concrete political action, Senator L’Italien decided to host the first of a planned series of Get Organized forums on May 13th, 2017. The event was attended by over 150 people, who networked with local organizations and listened to seminars on some of the most important political issues of our time. This event and the events which will follow it have one goal: to build up an alliance of grassroots activists across the region and enable them to take action at the state and local level.

The May 13 event included breakout seminars on the following priority issues:

  • Immigration reform
  • The opioid epidemic
  • Economic justice
  • Education
  • The environment
  • LGBTQ rights
  • Running for office
  • Women’s empowerment
  • Criminal justice reform

This event was a first draft – we understand that it wasn’t perfect! If you attended the Get Organized forum in May, we ask you to please give us feedback so we can improve for next time.
