Harold Parker State Forest

In April, Sen. L’Italien celebrated the 100th Anniversary celebration of Harold Parker State Forest with Sen. Bruce haroldparkerTarr, state Rep. Jim Lyons, park rangers and several other friends of this wonderful natural resource. It was also an opportunity to celebrate news that the state Department of Conservation and Recreation was re-opening Berry Pond for the first time in six years, thanks to a budget amendment sponsored by Sen. L’Italien and passed by the House and Senate. The pond, a popular swimming beach in Harold Parker State Forest, had been closed since 2009 due to state budget cuts, which led to lifeguard layoffs.
