L’Italien’s Andover Town Yard Mitigation Fund Bill Signed by Baker

BOSTON – Governor Baker signed into law S2511, An Act creating a municipal services facility mitigation fund for the Town of Andover.

As Andover prepares to move its public works yard, the legislation sponsored by State Senator Barbara L’Italien, D-Andover, allows for the creation of a fund to collect revenue from future use of the current site on downtown Lewis Street, in order to pay for the town’s new municipal services facility.

“I was happy to sponsor this bill that was based off of a vote at Andover’s Town Meeting last May. Working with Town Manager Andrew Flanagan and Reps. Frank Moran and Jim Lyons, we were able to make this bill happen quickly in order to keep this project moving in the town. This legislation will help the town pay for the relocation of the Town Yard and is a positive step towards supporting economic development in the Historic Mill District in downtown Andover,” said L’Italien.
