Sen. L’Italien pitches new Lawrence Police Station to Gov. Baker

On March 17, Sen. L’Italien joined Gov. Charlie Baker, Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera, State Reps. Marcos Devers, Frank Moran and Diana DiZoglio, and NECC President Lane Glenn for a tour of Lawrence’s cramped, outdated and deteriorated police station.

The main purpose of the governor’s visit was to see the condition of the station and listen to the city’s pitch for a new public safety complex and regional law enforcement training facility that would be shared by LPD and Northern Essex Community College. In the past year, Senate President Stan Rosenberg and Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo have also visited the station with Sen. L’Italien to see for themselves how badly Lawrence’s residents and officers need and deserve a new police facility.
