Dawn Callahan, owner of Tewksbury institution TJ Callahan’s Pub, was one of several women from across the Commonwealth honored on Wednesday at The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women’s 14th Annual Unsung Heroines of Massachusetts.
In addition to running her business, where she often hosts events and fundraisers, Dawn is an active member of the Tewksbury Lion’s Club and Tewksbury/Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.
“Dawn is an integral member of the Tewksbury community,” said State Senator Barbara L’Italien, who nominated Callahan. “A strong supporter of local charities and organizations, frequent volunteer and general champion of the Merrimack Valley community – nominating Dawn was a no-brainer. So often, community work like Dawn’s goes unnoticed. It was truly humbling to celebrate Dawn today at the State House and highlight her many positive contributions.”
The Massachusetts Status on the Commission of Women, an independent state agency that was legislatively created to advance women of the Commonwealth, holds an annual Unsung Heroines celebration to identify and uplift extraordinary women.
